Safety was to be found, at the cathedral...Inn Trouble made their way through the city collecting a ragtag assortment of survivors, only to lose them as they escaped below.
Under the crypt the remaining citizens of Caer Bryn huddled around Ulder Ravengard for protection. Understaffed he employed our heroes (and I use this term broadly) to retrieve the Helm of Justica from the Cemetery.

It's quite hot down here.
Alone, in a forest...
In the desert on a horse with no name...
"Is my tavern on fire...?"
Triboar was being attacked by giants, again! A line of refugees and wounded soldiers marched south ward away from the burning town. Our brave heroes took exception to this attack on their home and repelled the remaining forces. After the victory, the lord protector employed the heroes to find out who had broken into the vault and stolen a mummified beholders eye. Pocket boulders, dancing undead & cave ins.
The company now known as 'Inn Trouble' explored a cavern complex near Lance Rock, despite the warnings from a local hunter and a freshly painted sign at the cave entrance. After making their way up a rather steep and winding ramp inside the cavern the company were not surprised to see a large boulder charging towards them. Like a well oiled machine, team tactics were actioned (in around ten minutes or so). Luna threw down the handkerchief of holding and tucked that big bad boy away. Shortly thereafter it was used as a bowling ball to destroy corpses in a store room. After witnessing a rather perverse trio of dancing zombies our heroes burst forth to confront the madman who was raising dead corpses. Our heroes vanquished the mad necromancers minions and solved and impossible puzzle to destroy his infernal dead person making machine. The necromancer having nothing further to offer the party, was put out of his misery. A cloudy blue orb held by undead hands got the better of Tarquin. He discovered that the entity that has been freaking him out every time he used a found wand of lightning was on the other end of this communication orb. The entity a little annoyed that his necromancer and death machine had been destroyed shot a lighting bolt from the orb which caused the start of a cave in. As swift as tired legs could carry them the company made a dash for the entrance (none as swiftly as Tarquin - a lifetime spent running away had readied him for this very moment) all escaping to safety. The company returning to Red Larch, and after a much needed rest joined a caravan headed back to Triboar. Down the road and right a bit...
Hyuth Kolstag, a dodgy mage, proposed business deal with Tarquin, the new owner of the Talking Troll. It involved purchasing a property in town, a derelict inn. Darathra Shrendal the Lord protector had so far managed to twart any attempts that Hyuth had made to purchase the inn. He proposed that if Tarquin find the owner, who lived out of town, and purchased it o his behalf, he would gift income from the property. The owner, a halfling farmer by the name of Wiggan Nettlebee, has a ranch out on the Dessarin Hills. The company travelled the Long Road with a wilderness guide named Bram Bigbeard. They were attacked by troll and murdered its starving babies who living under a bridge. The company were then chased by orcs and hill troll, but found refuge at Helvenblade House where they meet a copper dragon, who gave them all a lift to Nettlebee Ranch. After talked to the halfling family, they discovered that a fire witch had moved into the area. To secure the sale of the inn the company entered a barrow near the farm, to get rid of the so=called fire wirch. Under the dark earth mound the spirit of Javor returned to seek revenge for his tomb being plunder, As the tomb started to freeze by the hate of the undead, an earth elemental collapsed the barrow tunnel - ensuring a cliff hanger ending! Attack on Triboar
Arriving in Triboar on foot after being dropped off a ways by the cloud giant, the company meet a few locals, gambled and won the Talking troll - a broken down tavern, dined with a shady wizard who asked the company to steal a mummified beholders eye from the local lord protectors vault, and successfully repelled an attack on the town by two fire giants and a handful of well armed orcs. Luna kept the orcs pinned down using a ballista on the roof of the town keep, while the wizards cooked up an ice-storm and then drove the giants out of town with a tornado. Under Old Owl Well...
Hidden under the foundations of the ruined keep, the company found more undead, guarding a few rooms with piles of left over treasure, collected from deeper inside the rotting tomb. After investigating the ruins several dead zombies and skeletons later lay amongst the cold flagstones and destroyed traps. A magically sealed portal guarded by an undead serpent blocked further exploration of the tomb. Hundur the barbarian sat out the battle after being charmed by the boney snake, leaving the heavy lifting to Luna the rouge, the sorceress Akra and Tarquin the wizard. After nuking the area (and half of the treasure) with a fireball the boney serpent was toast. Overwhelmed by the number of magical locks on the portal the company headed for Conyberry and discovered the plight of the villagers, who were attacked by hill giants and orcs. They tracked hill giant tracks and witnessed a small orc army encamped in the caves of Wyvern Tor. Thinking better of a frontal assault the company headed for Triboar to get backup. They were picked up by Zephyros, a somewhat crazy cloud giant in a flying tower. On route to Triboar they met a bunch of air elemental cultists, and gained a bag of pixie dust, as well as a couple other possibly helpful items. On the Triboar Trail After preparing for the trip the role of leadership for the trek to the village of Conyberry was undertaken by Akra. Shortly after leaving the town of Phandalin, the gruesome remains of Toby's horse where discovered surrounded by quite a few orc tracks. These led off the beaten path to an old long forgotten tower called Old Owl Well., so the company decided to investigate. After quickly dispatching a few zombies and ransacking a tent, the adventurers found a passage in the ruined foundations, leading down to a filled with several zombies. Tarquin casting light on a coin distracted a couple of the undead, while the others were finally put to rest by the other members of the company. A trap holding the key to a secret door was sprung, but using magic Tarquin unlocked the door only to reveal another room divided by a waterfall... |
